Description

The MHH is one of the leading Medical Schools in Germany. Two research groups from Hannover will contribute to the NEUROBID project: perinatal Neuroepidemiology and neuroimmunology.

Olaf Dammann, a neuroepidemiologist with a long-standing publication record in the field of developmental neurology, will serve as the coordinator of NEUROBID. He has extensive experience as an expert reviewer and project coordinator in FP6 (NEOBRAIN, LSHM-CT-2006-036534) and will assume WP leadership of the WPs “Management” and “Exploitation and Dissemination”.

Wolfgang Büter, a postdoc researcher also involved in the NEOBRAIN project,will contribute to both of these work packages, as assistant to the coordinator and as exploitation manager.

Martin Stangel is Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurology at MHH. He heads the neuroimmunology research group and is local principal investigator of several clinical trials in Multiple Sclerosis. His major interest is in repair mechanisms in demyelinating diseases of the CNS and in mechanisms supporting the integrity of the BBB. He has a long standing experience with the culture of glial cells and uses a toxic model of de- and remyelination in the CNS.
